Digital magazine publishing is now within reach

i Digital EditionThis seems pretty cool to me. If a small or mid-tier publisher would like to digitize their magazine, they now have that option thanks to the ‘iDigital Edition‘ Digital Magazine Publishing Solution. I only had a second to skim this article, but it looks like the publisher can use iDigital Edition to turn print-ready PDFs into an online version of their magazine which, by the way, is in Flash format.

With the iDigital Edition format subscribers or visitors can view the online magazines without being required to install proprietary client digital reader software or download large files to their PC. The digital magazine Flash format insures that availability will continue to dominate other digital publishing software formats and provides the greatest future technology functionality capabilities. According to the September 2005 NPD Research study (http://www.macromedia.com/software/player_census/flashplayer/), 97.3% of web users have Flash pre-installed and can experience Macromedia Flash content without having to download and install a player.

  1. This is good. I liked it alot when i first seen it.

I once worked in the publishing business & think that digtal magazines are great but i think that it is along way off in terms of companies generating income from online subscriptions.

I think the real benefit is in marketing the magazine to potential clients / advertisers. All publishing houses already have the skills required so why should they outsource the job when they are quite capable of doing it in-house.

3D Issue is a software solution i developed to answer these needs. Its an off theshelf solution that allows publishers to create their own digital magazines in-house without the need of hiring additional services.

  2. I agree with 3d issue.

Sending a magazine to an online company and pay $15 a page is completly rediculous (olive software)

3D issue is a one off payment- make as much as you like without screwing around with uploading to someone elses server- contant payments etc.

Adding links in 3dissue- is easy as hell- in fact the whole thing is easy- you don’t need additional software to run it and I hear that 3dissue is going to create a membership system of tracking whos reading what pages- the question is why bother sending it to someone else when it is so easy to do it yourself?
