Best Practices for Flash Player Detection

With the [somewhat] recent release of Flash 8 and all of the great new features, we need to make sure that our users can correctly view the work that we spend so many of our waking hours on. I have yet to implement a it on my Flash Experiments page, but with the help of this great article by Robert Hoekman, Jr., I’ll soon be able to make a choice on which solution to go with. If you are a Flash developer, I would like to take this time to formally recommend this little piece of informative reading. Here’s a little taste:

“Well, folks, today is a good day: The search is over. The wheel has been invented. And tested. And taken on a nice, long road trip.

Say hello to the newest detection script, which you can implement easily using Macromedia Flash 8. Much like the Six Million Dollar Man, it’s better, faster, and stronger. And as an added bonus, you can actually rely on it.”
