I spotted this post over at Beedigital and just had to click on the link to check out Adobe flash on. After spending just a few minutes on it, I wanted to help spread the word so here I am writing this post. I’m going to dig deeper, but it looks like the short explanation of it (my own explanation anyway) is that it’s a video portal where you can choose different categories of videos to watch. With categories like horror, animation, lifestyle, hd, action, comedy and several others, there’s plenty of video there to keep you entertained for a good while. Check it out when you have a few minutes.

Thanks for the post Mário.

On2 Technologies Announces On2 Flix Live 8 for Flash Video

From the press release:

On2 Flix Live makes broadcast-quality video webcasting on the Flash Platform available to enterprises and content delivery networks. It is the first application on the market that is capable of encoding live feeds in On2 VP6, the advanced video technology in Macromedia Flash Player 8 from Adobe.

The application is powered by the On2 Live SDK for Flash, which delivers live Flash video at the highest image quality while also maintaining low streaming latency. Working closely with Adobe, On2 designed the On2 Live SDK for Flash to deliver live streaming video directly to Adobe’s Flash Media Server 2.0 using Adobe’s RTMP (Real Time Messaging Protocol).

The 5 “most popular video sites” seem to have something in common. What is it? They all use Flash!
From TechWeb:

…AOL Uncut Video, Blip.tv, Google Video, Yahoo Video, and YouTube. All of the services use Macromedia Flash for formatting and displaying video content. Flash is perfect for this role, as it is cross-platform and eliminates any complications with video file types or having to install specific players or codecs…

Flash video is most definately here to stay (as if there was ever any question).

Speaking of user generated content and video, I’ll go ahead and plug the Patrón Simply Perfect site again here since you can upload your own audio and/or video to it.

Online advertising. Like it or not, it’s huge. Flash ads are everywhere you look (and there are some pretty darn cool ones out there). If you haven’t heard of PointRoll, they “offer a solution to the poor performance of the standard banner – a suite of products and services that allows agencies, advertisers and publishers to deliver user-friendly, online ads that engage their target.”

And they have now embraced Flash 8 video:

Here’s a piece of the story:

FORT WASHINGTON, Pa., Jan. 24, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) — PointRoll, Inc. (http://www.pointroll.com) has partnered with On2 Technologies, Inc. (AMEX:ONT – News) to add Flash 8 video encoding capabilities to PointRoll video units. As part of the agreement, PointRoll is licensing On2′s Flix Engine and Flix Pro toolsets, the Company’s premiere Flash 8 video encoding solution for the enterprise, to enable PointRoll to create and deliver the industry’s highest quality Flash 8 video-enabled online advertisements. The move to Flash 8 video reinforces PointRoll’s commitment to working with best-of-breed technology providers to deliver the highest quality video units for the advertising and creative community.
